Joshua J. Brayton

Joshua J. Brayton, 39, of Sumner, died unexpectedly Wednesday, February 22, 2017, at his home in rural, Sumner.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, February 28, 2017, at Becker-Milnes Funeral Chapel in Hawkeye with Rev. Dan Doebel officiating. Friends may call from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday, February 27th at Becker-Milnes Funeral Home in Hawkeye and for one hour preceding services at the funeral home on Tuesday.

Joshua John, son of Michael Brayton and Carol Morf was born June 08, 1977, in Black Hawk County. He received his education in the Cedar Falls Schools graduating from Cedar Falls High School in 1995. Josh was employed as an electrician for the IBEW for over twenty years. On April 24, 2004, he was united in marriage with Heather McRobie at the Rotary Reserve in Cedar Falls. He was a member of Ducks Unlimited, Pheasants Forever and the National Turkey Federation. Josh enjoyed working on motors, wood-work, fishing and hunting.

Josh is survived by his son, Derek Brayton of Sumner; one brother, Michael Brayton II of Davenport, stepfather, John Kaiserlik of Hawkeye, mother-in-law, Terri (Carl) Metzger of Cedar Falls, sister-in-law, Bridget (Mitch) Hoeppner of Cedar Falls; brother-in-law, Tony Fuller of Janesville, three nieces, Kelsey and Destiny Hoeppner and Kendra Kohlmeyer; father-in-law, Steven McRobie; grandparents, Orville (Nancy) McRobie; and special friend, Mary Kriegel of Sumner.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Heather on December 19, 2011; his parents, Michael and Carol; brother, Christopher Gruver; uncle, James Morf; and aunt, Jan Morf.

So sorry to hear of Josh's unexpected death. I worked with him as an electrician several years ago. He was a good electrician, worked hard and usually had a few stories to tell. I liked him. He went thru a lot of tough times in his life. I will remember him!
